This is yet another weight loss pill, Acomplia (Rimonabant) thats use was suspended in October 2008, due to risks of serious psychiatric problems, as found by the manufacturers Sanofi Aventis own research Rimonabant was available in the UK, as the ‘first drug to target factors governing the bodys appetite, metabolism, and energy use, and in tests has decreased weight by 10%, and can also help people stop smoking’. targeted at the 1/5 of men and 1/4 of women in the UK who are obese. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/7687311.stm
My question is, do we want to continually be used as guinea pigs for the latest pill, or is it time to take responsiblity for our own health, learn about health and not disease, and not rely on a magic pill.
Working on our own health, by making changes in diet, optimising sleep, addressing emotional issues and our lifestyle can allow our bodies to move back towards health. A healthy person will not need to store excess fat, and over time will move towards a healthy sustainable weight that is right for them.
