Helping You to Help Yourself

Today the BBC reported that the swine flu virus first detected in Mexico can no longer be contained and countries should focus on mitigating its effects, according to a top UN official said. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/8021827.stm

Health experts say the virus comes from the same strain that causes seasonal outbreaks in humans but also contains genetic material from versions of flu which usually affect pigs and birds.

A team from the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation is due to leave Rome for Mexico on Tuesday to investigate allegations that industrial pig farms in Mexico were the source of the outbreak.

Its chief veterinary officer, Joseph Domenech, told the BBC that rumours that people had been falling ill last month near some intensive pig farms meant the FAO had to act.

Dr Sheri Tenpenny, from Vaccine Information Center in the USA,  is respected as one of the country’s most knowledgeable and outspoken physicians regarding the impact of vaccines on health.writing on her own website she said -

We knew this was coming. Even though the bird flu hype was removed years ago from the nightly news, planning for the global pandemic and the development of pandemic flu vaccines has continued with little notice. Our government has instructed FEMA, made checklists for Homeland Security, given action plans to State and local authorities. These plans include methods and drills for global inoculation with a vaccine that will no doubt have the same deadly consequences as the Swine Flu vaccine in 1976.

My book, FOWL!, published in 2006, foretold the events that are now happening in Mexico. Reported death rates are skyrocketing, from 20 to 60 to 86, in a matter of hours. More than 1,300 others have supposedly become ill with “suspected” cases of the infection and reports are coming in from various States and Canada of swine flu. There are no sources or references given with these numbers; we have to take the word of CNN. A short look back at plans that were put in place several years ago will confirm this is not a spontaneous eruption and the solution global vaccination has been in the works for quite some time.  read more

Staying Healthy

Certainly, keeping yourself healthy and protected from all types of flu strains is a priority, now more than ever. Here are some suggestions from Dr Tenpenny:

Good hydration with alkaline water

If you don’t have access to an alkaline water machine, be sure to eat large amounts of alkalinizing, fresh vegetables and fruits such as broccoli, carrots, sprouts, avocados and berries.

Sleep Get at least 8.5 hours per night, every night. Sleep is often overlooked at the key to health. This is simple to do and best of all, it is free.

Vitamin D – Much has been written on the importance of adequate vitamin D for resisting viral infections. Have your blood tested for 25-OH-vitamin D.  Your vitamin D level should be at least 50 ng/ml. It is safe to take at least 2000 IU of vitamin D3 per day. With summer coming, you can get your dose of D naturally from sunshine.

Vitamin C – Humans don’t store vitamin C and under stress, much more is required. Vitamin C is important for fighting viral infections. Take in at least 2000 mg/day for overall immune health. Vitamin A – This vitamin is one of the best supporters you can have in your cabinet. Mycel A drops given in juice are easy to take for children and adults of all ages. By taking 5,000 IU/day for 5 days is safe for everyone and will give your immune system a protective boost against all types of viral infections. While these suggestions are not meant to be all encompassing, these some simple solutions for you and your family.I believe that we, as the public should address with caution and question any mass vaccination, and put in place the basic fundamentals of good health – sleep, good diet, hydration, good hygiene and an open mind to test and question what the media, goverments and large companies tell us is best for us.For more information on how to improve your health through sleep, diet, and hydration please search this blog.

Today, the BBC reported the news of the 500,000th heart pacemaker being fitted, and the advances in technology that have seen it go from the size of a pram wheel to smaller than a matchbox. The pacemaker is designed to resychronize heart muscle function generally after heart attacks, or if there is an arrhythmia (out of rhythm).

Mrs Trudie Lobban, founder of the Arrhythmia Alliance said: “Although implants have increased in the UK by 5% each year, we need an increase of 15% per annum to be in line with European implant rates by 2016.

She added: “100,000 sudden cardiac deaths occur in the UK every year, yet 80% of these could possibly be avoided if diagnosed and treated appropriately.”

My fundamental question is what is the definition of ‘treated appropriately’, and why is heart disease such a huge problem, now, when there was no reported heart attacks before 1941?

There are three main biological oscilators in the human body – the brain, the heart and the intestines and they should all pulse together in harmony or synchronicity. Each one of these organs produces an electric and electromagnetic field as the pump blood, spinal fluid, send nerve messages or pump food. The electromagnetic fields of each of these organs interact with each other and in a healthy person, synchronize.

However if the brain is affected adversely by mental stress, continuous negative thought, or depression or any stressor, its electrical pulse, and the electromagnetic field that surrounds it alter and can interact with the electromagnetic field of the heart causing arrhythmias and dysfunctions of the heart muscle.

This is one potential cause of heart disease, and a potent example of how the body works as an integrated system of systems, and not like a set of seperate parts, with no influence on each other.

Extending this phenomenom, you can see other potential sources for heart problems -

Your intestines – physical stress from intolerances, allergies, parasites, fungal infections, bacterial overgrowth, could also cause heart problems.

Emotional issues can cause ‘tummy ache’or IBS symptoms, or a mind that can’t switch off, or overworking without adequate sleep (to help your brain and nervous system recover) can all cause problems with our hearts.

When you view the body as an integrated whole, with each cell able to communicate with another, then you realise that the attainment and maintenace of health is about integrating and balancing the the things we all do every day – the life principles. These are – Diet, hydration, sleep, sunlight, movement, thought – all of which affect every part of our body and have an influence on each other.

So, to end, In my opinion the first priority in the fight against heart disease is not to treat at all (you should always consult with your GP for medical advice). We should all be viewing our bodies as a whole integrated, communicating unit of many trillion cells, and that the route to good health is not through chopping it up into seperate parts to treat, but assessing what we all can do for ourselves by making small but significant changes to our life principles – as these are the messages we send to our bodies on a continuous basis, and are therefore the most influential.

A BBC report on 9 April 2009, cites the rise in worldwide allergies to the increase in ‘westernisation’ of lifestyle and diet http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/7989873.stm. Indigenuous peoples and western cultures around the world are being studied, including India, where there is a growing middle class who have adopted a western lifestyle and diet, and it is in this group that allergies have grown. They identify diet and pollution as a major source for this increase in allergies, as those who continued to farm and grow their own food, were unaffected by allergies.

This is neither shocking or surprising, as there have been many studies in the past (notably by Weston A. Price, Pottenger, Sally Fallon), that have recognised the link between a western diet of sugar, salt, refined grains and fats, pasteurised dairy products, additives, preservatives, artificial fertilisers and pesticides and disease.

In my opinion, and from my clinical experience, many people have an overloaded immune system secondary to a dysfunction in their gut caused by the consumption of the above, the exposure to antibiotics both directly and from their food, and other pollutants.

One of the first things that I do with my clients is to take them through a ‘blocking factor checklist’. This allows them and me to see the stressors on their body that are contributing to a breakdown in thier immune system (which is a cause of allergies)

I look at all potential stressors including food, water, electromagnetic stress from computers and phones, mercury in teeth, home and work pollution, use of household and work chemicals, personal care products, and many other factors including mental and emotional factors. All these factors can infiltrate through the gut, skin, or brain and bring a myriad of symptoms including allergies.

Using this checklist along with other tools, I coach my clients to listen to their body and make the changes they need to support their own body to move towards good health, all based around self empowerment, and building a connection with nature – through the food they eat and the lifestyle they choose.

It seems that this model would be very useful when looking at the global problems of allergies and other disease – keeping our focus on working in harmony with nature is the key to all our futures.

I am a CHEK practitioner, which most of you reading would never of heard of!

It is difficult to define how we help people so I summarise it by saying we help people to help themselves to better health.

The creator of the CHEK institute where I trained has produced a short video explaining what we do, better than I could!

According to a BBC report – http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/7968734.stm, the government would like to offer 40-74 years to visit their GP surgeries for a check up, in order to prevent deaths from heart attacks and strokes.

On the surface this seems a sensible thing to propose, but when you realise that GPs are generally far too busy to spend more than 5 or 10 minutes per patient, adding further patients to their list can only make patient contact time less, and more drug prescriptions. I can see the only winner being the drug companies, who’s drugs they will prescribe to this new wave of patients!

In my opinion, these people who perhaps do not visit their doctor but have unhealthy lifestyles (passive people), should be given the option to learn about food, hydration, sleep, and other lifestyle issues through education programs. Working with practitioners from private and public sectors who have a track record of using these basic tools successfully to empower people to help themselves and  to take responsibility for their own health.

These may be personal trainers, nutritionists, CHEK practitioners, and sleep experts, who if they combined and worked together could make a huge difference to the health of these ‘passive’ people, who need to be activated rather than medicated.

At dc Integrated Health run regular courses that any one can attend, helping people to help themselves with basic tools, like the food and water the consume, and the quality of their sleep – making huge positive differences to their health.
