Helping You to Help Yourself

How To Check Your Own Posture

Posture is the too often neglected element of health and fitness, and correcting it can bring unexpected benefits.

So how do I test my posture?

Stand with your back to the wall, head and buttocks touching the wall, heels 6 inches away from skirting board. If you can get within 1 – 2 inches with your lower back and 2 inches from your neck to the wall, then you have near perfect posture.

How do I improve or maintain good posture?

Practice all day everyday! Standing and walking – keep knees straight but unlocked, ribs up, stomach in, shoulders and head up, weight even over both feet when walking swing arms freely.

Sitting

Sit tall, both feet flat on floor, weight even on both buttocks, back fully on back rest, shift from time to time.

Keep you fat levels down

especially around the middle, and this will help to keep your lower spine neutral. Contact me if you would like a more detailed analysis. .
